If you want to keep your day drinking energy flowing, you might need a good, early morning pick-me-up in the form of booze soup. Never fear! Our liquor-soaked hero Rickey is here to shepherd you through your quest for the best bloody mary on Disney property.
Side Note: The criteria for judging a good bloody present some complications here because there are a few different metrics. In Rick’s view, the best bloodies are those that actually taste good because they contain a lil’ something special. However, some of these just earned good marks because of all the ridiculous crap piled on top of them.
#5: Key West Loaded Bloody Mary
Location: Gurgling Suitcase, Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Ingredients: Ketel One Vodka, Bacon, Shrimp, Jumbo Olives, Celery and Lime
Price: $17

Notes: Seasoned Disney day drinkers often cite this concoction as their absolute fave on property. This is totally fair given the bacon and shrimp rim job. But while Rickey was pleased as punch with the accouterments, he felt the mix itself was a bit pedestrian. Honestly the best thing about this experience was when Rickey’s mom manically launched her shrimpy over the railing at Gurgling Suitcase. But this confusing, shellfish-overboard scenario aside, the bloody was as basic as, well… a bloody mary.
#4: Bloody Rancor
Location: Oga’s Cantina, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Ingredients: Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur, Spice Bloody Mary Mix, Rancor Bone
Price: $19

Notes: This is another bloody that gets major points for style but fewer for substance. It’s totally drinkable, with the Ancho only adding a slight sweetness and very little spice. Otherwise, there’s not much to get excited about flavor-wise. That said, the merengue bone makes you feel a bit like a badass, since it looks very cool to go ham on a makeshift tibia while drinking Rancor blood.
#3: Crazy Bloody Mary
Location: Whispering Canyon Cafe, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Ingredients: Basic Bloody Mary Mix, Vodka, and a whole lotta flair
Price: $18 (The regular Bloody Mary is $12, so for an extra $5 you basically get a whole breakfast in your drink. However, please confirm this price before ordering)

Notes: Again, the mix doesn’t impress here, but who tf cares? There’s an entire BREAKFAST on top of this bloody. Your eyes do not deceive you. That’s a waffle, a chicken wang, bacon AND a fried pickle. But please be cautious. If you order this at Whispering Canyon, make sure and specify that you want the crazy version, lest you end up with the snoozer that’s on their regular menu.
#2: Steakhouse Bloody Mary
Location: Steakhouse 71, Disney’s Contemporary
Ingredients: Tito’s Housemade Vodka, Bloody Mary Mix, Steakhouse Seasoning
Price: $14

Notes: Finally, with the Steakhouse 71 Bloody we get something special to put in our gullets other than the meat and bone extravaganzas above. They make their own mix using steakhouse spices and yellow tomatoes, rendering it very fresh tasting. And while this one is definitely on the lighter side, the spices and unique mix make it stand out amongst the basic bloodies all over property. Rickey loves a novel take on a classic, but if you’re looking for something ultra-hearty or spicy, this one might not be for you.
#1: Dawa Bar Bloody
Location: Dawa Bar, Africa, Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Ingredients: Vodka, Bloody Mary Mix, Berbere Sauce, Bacon
Price: $14

Notes: This bloody ranks number one by a far margin for Rickey (and it’s his fave drink at Animal Kingdom to boot). The Dawa Bar bloody mary is off menu, so you have to ask for it. Once you do, you’re in for a spicy, unique and delicious treat. For their mix they use an Ethiopian style marinade called Berbere which imparts notes of cumin, allspice berries, paprika, nutmeg and cinnamon. It’s very rich with tons of depth. And there’s bacon in case the aforementioned meat extravaganza is something you crave.
Honorable Mention: Bourbon Bloody Mary
Location: Marketplace- The Swanky Saucy Swine, EPCOT, World Showcase
Ingredients: Seaside Grown Bloody Mary Mix and Labrot & Graham Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whiskey
Price: $11

Notes: This gorgeous take on a bloody mary would have made it into the top 2 were it regularly available. Unfortunately, you can only get it at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. But when it is available, it is a must-do. The extremely thick mix lends mild spice and excellent depth of flavor. It’s also fun to drink a bloody with bourbon, which gives it a slight boozy-sweet finish. However, be warned, it’s very heavy so you might want to start with it when you have ample stomach space. This is especially true if you (wisely) plan to stuff your face around the world.
Dis-Honorable Mention: Paddlefish Bloody Mary
Location: Paddlefish, The Landing, Disney Springs
Ingredients: Vodka, Hungbloodies Bloody Mary Mix, Shrimp.
Price: $20

Notes: Booooooo, Paddlefish! Why oh WHY did you take from us the crab leg that used to inhabit this bloody? Now the drink is merely adorned with shrimp. And though the shrimpies are, admittedly, delicious, the dang thing STILL costs $20. That would be acceptable if it wasn’t made with a boring, thin, too-tart pre-mix. The one upside is that you get a tiny bottle of Tabasco to manage the spice level yourself. That said, even dumping the whole bottle in could not save this sub-par bloody.
Ok, because Rickey hasn’t had EVERY Bloody Mary on property, he needs your help. What’s your favorite Bloody at Walt Disney World? Let Team Rickey know in the comments!
