Drink Review: Black Magic

Rating

It Could Use Some More Magic For $21

Sights: The Black Magic is a delightful, deep berry color. It looks very pretty, especially when you strategically place it in front of some bushes.

Also: It was invented by the famous mixologist (checks notes)…Neil Patrick Harris(?)…So that’s something.

Smells: No smells detected.

Tastes: Rickey thinks they should rename this one “Boozy Prunes” and serve it at retirement home parties. It would be all the rage amongst the 80+ set. That doesn’t necessarily make it bad, but it is very heavy on the dark fruit flavors. The mezcal is there, but the profile is not as smoky as Rickey expected. That said, it’s also less sweet and heartburn inducing than many other frozen margs at EPCOT.

Feels: It’s frozen and it’s Disney, so you know it’s good.

Rick’s Tricks: You can actually get various frozen margaritas mixed together at Choza de Margarita. If you want some extra tanginess to balance the berry flavors, you might consider adding some classic lime.

Overall: Ok, Neil Patrick Harris, there needs to be some serious black magic involved for Rickey to spend $21 on a frozen margarita. And Rickey once bought a Snuggie in every available color, “just in case”. He’s notoriously bad with money.
