A Tomato Cocktail For Tomato Haters
Sights: Do you like the way tomatoes look? Then you’re in luck! Because the most tomatoey thing about this cocktail is the garnish.
Smells: When you smell the void, the void smells back.
Tastes: Ah yes, take a sip and you will delight in the red-tinged fruit which is prominent in this aptly named tomato cocktail… Watermelon. OK, y’all, when they listed a “hint of watermelon liqueur” in the ingredients, what they really meant was “buttload of watermelon liqueur”. There might be the faintest trace of savory tomato to balance out the sweetness, but Rickey’s also prone to hallucinations, so let’s not bet the watermelon farm on it.
Feels: It’s definitely a bit more watery than the other frozen drinks at this spot. Or maybe that’s just all the GD WATERMELON.
Rick’s Tricks: Just to reiterate, DO NOT PROCEED if you are looking for something even remotely savory and tomato-like.
Overall: While it hurts Rickey’s heart to give a less than glowing review of any drink at La Cava, he doesn’t want to steer anyone wrong. That said, even the worst drink at this bar is still actually pretty good. So don’t shy away from the Frozen Jitomate if you like watermelon. Just don’t expect anything resembling a Bloody Mary (which, to be fair, the menu warns you about anyway).
