It’ll Get The Job Done.
TL;DR: The flight is a good deal from a bucks to booze standpoint. The Vodka and Gin Martinis are decent. The Pomegranate is straight trash.
Sights: This flight consists of a Gin Martini, a Vodka Martini and a Pomegranate Martini. The Gin Martini in the one with the olive and the Vodka Martini has a lemon rind (NOT a peel. A full rind). Rickey’s less snobby drinking companion insists that the garnishes were correct, but he’s clearly saddled with pedestrian tastes. Gin comes with a lemon peel! (And vodka comes with whatever, because it’s a BS drink no matter how you gussy it up).
The stand is a nice touch, though could pose risk of spillage after several cocktails. This is due to believing you’re putting your glass back in its designated metal rung when in fact you are just dropping it all over the table (possible first-hand experience here). Finally, the martini glasses are adorable, little vats for booze that will probably fit it your purse (JK JK).
Smells: Vodka, Gin, and Ummmm… horrific, fake, red-ish smelling something or other.
Tastes: Rickey would like a flight that takes him very far away from the Pomegranate Martini. Even his drinking companion (the one with the pedestrian palate) HATED IT. It’s just a hot, burning, vodka-laced, synthetic mess.
The other two are decently balanced, though f’d up from a garnish perspective. The bartenders obviously work hard to ensure that the vermouths soften the spirits here. However, Rickey thinks they should add some bitters (perhaps orange?) to round out the flavor profiles.
Feels: All very medium bodied. Not much surprising to report.
Rick’s Tricks: It really is a good deal if all you’re looking to do is get sauced. That said, for $2 less you get a full gin martini (without the pomegranate nightmare), and those are pretty good at this spot.
Overall: Again, bang for your buck is decent by Disney standards. The gin and vodka martinis are totally drinkable (and somewhat well-crafted). The pomegranate martini was disappointing, but Rickey drank it anyway (he’s no quitter).
