Like Getting Real Drunk In Your 20’s
Sights: It’s as if you poured a giant shot over ice, in a Solo cup, and called it a drink.
Smells: Plastic jug apple juice…
Tastes: There is a shot that 20-somethings loved to order in the early aughts, which was decidedly not good. It was called a “Washington Apple” and it consisted of Crown Royal, Apple Pucker and cranberry juice. Rickey knows this because he was gainfully employed as a bartender at that time and he partook in at least the equivalent of his body weight of these overly cloying suckers. If you remember that shot, you know what this drink tastes like: Sweet and slightly sour with lots of apple and very little of that pesky “complexity” Rickey’s always on about.
Feels: Really…no one cares.
Rick’s Tricks: If you can scrounge up a lime or lemon wedge somewhere, do it. Some extra citrus will do this drink a lot of favors.
Overall: The Ottawa Apple is a fan favorite, and Rickey does not want to hate on that. It’s simple and sweet, with apple and cranberry taking center stage. AND if you want to be transported back to the glory days of your youth without donning low cut jeans and awkwardly hiked up thong undies, this could be your ticket.
