Rickey Reports: The Latest Buzz From The House of Mouse

Team Rickey divulges the juiciest Disney news, hot goss and social media B.S. from the last week. Enjoy!

Proposal FAIL (Or Win, Depending On Your POV)

Even Rickey’s non-Disney loving friends have been messaging him about this facepalm moment at Disneyland Paris. ICYMI, some duderino was trying to propose to his lady friend when a Cast Member scampered over, stole the ring and ran off cackling into the distance. Ok, so actually the CM was just trying to move the couple to a more sanctioned proposal spot, but his timing was less than stellar. The best part is that the proposer (aforementioned duderino) and his future bride both seem relatively amused by the entire debacle. And, anyway, like a full billion people propose in front of the castles every day (a totally verifiable statistic). But this one will go down in history. Thanks for the extra magic, Disney!

Rumor: Big Changes Coming To Nomad Lounge’s Food Menu

Rickey has it on good authority that two of his favorite drunk foods at Nomad Lounge will bite the pixie dust pretty soon. While the absolute perfection of the churros shan’t be messed with, the accompanying sauces WILL. Say goodbye to the strawberry sauce, and hello to a coffee creme sauce similar to the one that came with the beignets back in February.

And now for the truly devastating news: the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese (i.e. CRACK) is in PERIL, y’all. A highly knowledgeable CM claims that it is also being removed from the Tiffins menu (and by extension Nomad Lounge) in the very near future. While the Lobster Mac doesn’t have quite the dedicated fanbase as the famed ‘Ohana noodles, perhaps anguished guests can still throw enough of a stink to stop this madness.

Nasty Guest Sticks Foot in Splash Mountain Water At Disneyland

This week WDWNT reported the most hard hitting Disney news, straight from Disneyland. Some uncouth individual TikTok’ed (or whatever the verb is) about dragging his bunions through the water at Splash Mountain. And while it’s decidedly grody to stick your foot in that water, most commenters online fussed about the safety issue. Seriously, what if you were minding your own business on the water ride and someone’s severed foot went floating by? That would probably ruin the magic. Anyway, sorry, it’s been a slow news week.

Most of World Showcase at EPCOT Closes Early; Rage Ensues

Without much warning, EPCOT unceremoniously closed the majority of the World Showcase two hours early on Sunday, June 5. Guests knew that the park was closing at 8, but did not seem to be notified until the morning-of that that the booziest part of EPCOT would shutter at 6PM. Only parts of France, the UK and Canada remained open with all of the festival booths closing up shop right at 6. And OH was it a rage-fest (and not the good kind either).

Rickey posted up with some bubbly and watched the utter contempt and devastation unfold. Long-suffering cast members ruined lives left and right and it was SAD, y’all! An older couple had one evening to recreate a historic, romantic photo in Italy from their youth and they were denied, on their anniversary. One very enterprising woman tried to covertly bushwhack through the foliage to get to her “friends in Japan”. Another lady resorted to rude hand gestures and shouted, “How am I supposed to get fucked up in the Land Pavilion?!” It was a charming scene that Disney might have avoided if they’d been a tad more transparent with their hours.

Mickey Biffs

Finally, in this shocking footage from Fantasmic at Disneyland, Mickey eats dirt mid-performance. But our other main mouse is an absolute professional, who rises like a phoenix from the ashes of his mega-biff to shoot fireworks from his fingers into the heavens. If only we could all recover from our foibles with such flair. Also, we have nothing but love and respect for Mickey, but is it at all possible he was partying with cousin Rick beforehand?
