Drink Review: Yeti Sunset

Cause For Mild Excitement

NOTE: You can get this cocktail with whiskey as-is or pick your spirit. The mix is pre-made so they just dump a bunch of liquor in it and call it good. And it actually IS kind of tasty (in a trying to get lit at your prom after party kind of way).

Sights: It’s pink!

Smells: Rickey can smell this cocktail in his little mousy brain because he’s downed it so many times. It’s basically lemonade with the pungent aromas of whatever boozy treat he decides to mix it with.

Tastes: Typically the Yeti Sunset comes with Jack Daniels and that works just fine. The whiskey does seem to overpower the delicate lemon, strawberry and lychee flavors. But if that’s your bag, go for it.

HOWEVER, when Rick’s feeling extra frisky, he gets a double with gin. The gin adds a subtle botanical goodness while maintaining the integrity (if you can call it that) of the fruity lemonade. Regardless, this cocktail avoids the cloying sweetness of many Disney drinks, with a softer, more citrusy profile. This is especially true if you pack it with booze.

Feels: Super light and refreshing. Very easy to take down on a hot day in line for the neighboring Expedition Everest.

Rick’s Tricks: Sometimes, if you’re lucky, they will charge you the same price for a double as they would for a single. But the upcharge for the extra shot is only about $4, so it’s a steal by Disney standards.

Overall: Again, this is Rickey’s go-to for a refreshing, simple, customizable cocktail right before Everest. It’s not exactly a showstopper, but it gets the job done well. Just try not to spew your sunset ON the Yeti. He’s got enough problems as it is.
