TL;DR: Magic Kingdom is the worst (shocker). Animal Kingdom is the best.
Alas, in what can only be described as an assault on fun, Walt Disney World banished all smoking and vaping from its parks back in 2019. Rickey gets it. People really don’t want smoke clouds interfering with warm churro aromas or castle views.
But, of course, Rickey’s been known to take a smoke break or two while at Disney World. And because he just wants everyone to be happy, he’d like to share his wealth of knowledge on the subject.
#5: Magic Kingdom
At Magic Kingdom smokers are relegated to a nondescript location near the resort busses.
Of all the smoking sections, it seems to be the farthest away from the entrance.
When you exit, head left, pass through security, and follow signs for the busses.
The Magic Kingdom smoking section offers a nice view of the bus stops where fumes intermingle with cigarettes and vape smoke. This might be the least magical spot on Earth.
#4: EPCOT, Front Entrance
While not as depressing as the Magic Kingdom area, the front entrance smoking section at EPCOT is also a bit of a trek.
After exiting, walk just about as far to the right as possible
Being a bit further removed has its perks, though. This spot is often a nice, quiet respite from the madness of the park.
#3: Hollywood Studios
There are not a lot of bells and whistles in the Hollywood Studios smoking area.
However, it scores extra points for proximity to the entrance of the park.
After exiting Hollywood Studios, merely walk to the left.
Rickey likes that he doesn’t have to pass through security to get to this smoking area. Convenience secures Rickey’s #3 spot for Hollywood Studios.
#2: EPCOT, International Gateway
The International Gateway Smoking area would be a contender for Rickey’s top spot if it weren’t for the distance from the exit and the lack of shade available.
It provides a delightful view of the Skyliner and the France Pavilion, foregrounded by the water and the lovely EPCOT landscaping.
When you leave, head left (even though the icon is on the right).
And while Rickey loves this spot, he prefers to smoke his cigs away from the cancer causing direct sunlight.
#1: Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom’s cig section wins top honors from Rickey because it has everything he looks for in a smoke break.
The area is close to the exit, it’s surrounded by lush greenery, and it provides ample shade.
When you exit the park head to the right toward Rainforest Cafe
As a bonus, Animal Kingdom pumps their relaxing music into the area, creating the zen-like atmosphere for Rickey’s puffing pleasure.
