If you’ve ever been to a frat party, you know that passing out in public at inopportune times is not just for children. So say you’re bit knackered after a night at Jellyrolls, and you just need to catch some zzzz’s… What’s a Disney park-goer to do? Rickey’s letting you in on his favorite snooze spots below.
Animal Kingdom: Nomad Lounge
Rickey has never visited this spot without witnessing a nap in progress.
The couches are cushy and large enough to accommodate a full grown snoozer. The environs are peaceful, with soft music lulling even the most amped up park-goer into a quiet calm.
As long as others in your party are ordering drinks or food, they will let you rest for as long as your tired tushy desires.
Magic Kingdom: The Hall of Presidents
To qualify as a top napping spot, rides and attractions have to meet at least three criteria: They have to be long, dark and easy to get into without a significant wait.
The Hall of Presidents fits the bill. Rickey loves history as much as the next mouse, but he likes sleep even more.
And after you pass through the crowded rotunda, a cool, dark theater, generally with lots of open space, awaits you. With a short wait and roughly 30-minute run time, it’s the perfect place for a power nap.
EPCOT: Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth is another ride that checks all of Rickey’s nap-worthy boxes.
The wait can be a bit longer than The Hall of Presidents, but it’s not usually too terrible.
Once on the ride the darkness and the soothing voice of Dame Judi Dench will send you right to the land of nod. As a bonus, the ride time clocks in at 15 minutes and the car reclines backward for much of the experience. This creates an optimal snoozing situation.
The only major challenge with this nap spot is the nightmare fuel provided by some of the animatronics.
Hollywood Studios: Tune-In Lounge
Ok, to be fair, Rickey acknowledges that this one is kind of a stretch. But there are just so few places in Hollywood Studios amenable to z’s.
However, to its credit, Tune-In Lounge does have a couch. if it’s available, and others in your party are imbibing from the bar, there should be ample opportunity to nap.
In fact, Rickey has witnessed a full grown man fully passed out on this couch during a rainstorm. So where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Honorable Mention: The Carousel of Progress (Magic Kingdom)
The Carousel of Progress does meet all of the most important criteria for a solid nap spot. It’s dark and generally empty, with a short wait, and a run time of over 20 minutes.
However, Rickey knows from experience that the movement of the ride can easily jerk one awake. It’s also a great big (not so) beautiful nap interruption every time the ride transitions to a new scene.
