For Grapefruit Lovers Who Also Hate Themselves
Sights: This drink is pretty! The fresh grapefruit clouds the drink (much like Rickey’s judgement), but also gives it a nice pink hue. The pink peppercorns are just precious…to look at…
Smells: This smells like mezcal and pepper, but perhaps slightly less smoky than expected.
Tastes: The mezcal is there, but not really in its most recognizable, charcoal-esque form. This can probably be blamed on the Zignum Reposado Mezcal which is less smoky and more like a barrel aged tequila. Otherwise, the drink is full on grapefruit. It’s citrusy and bitter, but (and Rickey CANNOT believe he thinks this), it could use more sweetness. To make matters worse, it tastes watered down… or maybe that’s just from Rickey’s tears.
Feels: Oh Rickey’s God, no. Do you like getting whole peppercorns stuck in your teeth and all about your throat? I doubt you do…
Rick’s Tricks: Maybe you could ask them to leave off the pink peppercorns? Idk.
Overall: It’s semi-boozy and not overly sweet by Disney standards. Mezcal fans might be disappointed at the lack of smoke. Tequila fans might like it more… But it’s not quite balanced or sweet enough to get Rickey’s top marks.
