Drink Review: Spice Trader Classic

Rating

You’re SO Close, Nomad Lounge!

Sights: The Spice Trader Classic looks very cute for about two seconds. But then the strawberry leaf garnish starts to droop just like Rickey after a few hours of day drinking.

Smells: Ok, so they put a fair amount of soda water on the top of this drink, which smells like, well…nothing. But if you really get in there you will smell some strawberry and lemon. Just don’t accidentally inhale the bubbles. Unless you’re into that sort of thing.

Tastes: This is Rickey’s go-to for a refreshing yet somewhat boozy cocktail at Nomad Lounge. The gin is well balanced with the vermouth and lemon. The strawberry is there, but not overpoweringly sweet. The main problem with this cocktail is the soda water. It waters down the flavors, which are otherwise very well balanced.

Feels: It’s watery with a bit of effervescence from the soda.

Rick’s Tricks: Ask for less (or no) soda water for a more concentrated flavor.

Overall: This drink could be Rickey’s favorite on a hot day at Animal Kingdom. However, the abundance of soda water in conjunction with Nomad Lounge’s notorious bad ice, keeps it from getting full marks.
