TL;DR: Oga’s Cantina is a must-do, immersive experience with some aesthetically interesting and balanced drink options. Rick’s top 3 cocktail picks are:
Overview
Rickey loves to be swept away to new dimensions. And while he’s no stranger to mind altering substances, he also likes getting his fix with good, old-fashioned Disney magic. Very few places at WDW provide such an immersive and otherworldly experience as Oga’s Cantina.
When you enter, you are fully transported to a bustling, local watering hole on Batuu. And, bonus! You can also score some of those aforementioned “mind altering substances” as well.
While It can be challenging to get a spot at Oga’s with a group, there are always plenty of single person reservations for standing room at the bar, even day-of.
This is the best for chatting with your fellow visitors to Batuu anyway. However, if you have younglings with you, be aware that they might not be able to see over the bar.
Rick’s Top 3 Picks
In concert with the spirited environment, the drinks are well themed and super cool to behold. As per usual with Disney drinks, the cocktails are on the sweeter side. But some earned more chEARS from The Rickter Scale than others:
#1: The Outer Rim
The Outer Rim is Rickey’s favorite Oga’s drink because it gets points for looking cool and tasting well balanced. It’s slightly tequila forward, though also sweet and savory with the salt rim. It’s an interesting take on a margarita.
#2: Bespin Fizz
The Bespin Fizz is slightly sweeter, less complex and less booze forward than the Outer Rim, but Rickey gets a kick out of swirling glitter and smoke.
#3: Jedi Mind Trick
Despite its lack of complexity, the Jedi Mind Trick definitely hoodwinks many into loving it. It’s on the sweeter side, but is also decently balanced. It’s good for those who like grape and grapefruit flavors.
Rickey’s Reject
Fuzzy Tauntaun
Rickey turned his nose up at one of the most popular drinks at this spot, the Fuzzy Tauntaun. It gets some credit for creativity because of the buzz button foam. However, in Rick’s view, this cocktail just tastes like a bad fuzzy navel.
Non-Cocktail Related Items
Beer: Beer is plentiful on the Oga’s menu. Rickey’s personal favorite is the Gold Squadron Lager. It’s made specifically for Oga’s and it has a prominent, though not overpowering lavender flavor.
You can also get the Rancor Beer Flight. It comes in a super cool Rancor Teeth Board. You can take this souvie with you if want to lug home the most cumbersome thing on Batuu.
Wine: Both the red and “white” wines are exclusive to Oga’s Cantina.
The Goldschmidt Vineyards Toniray is actually blue! Also Rickey has it on good authority that it’s a refreshing break from all the sugary cocktails.
Food: You can order a few snacks at Oga’s, but the food options are highly limited. One item technically billed as “provisions with alcohol” is the Rodian Ration.
It’s kind of like a big jello shot with boba balls. Rickey would be here for it if they weren’t $14.50 a pop.
