Rickey Ranks: His Mom’s Top 5 Disney Drinks

Since she’s his #1 fan and the coolest mom ever, Rickey thought he’d let you in on his mother’s favorite drinks at Disney World.

#5: Boozy Dole Whip from Tamu Tamu

Location: Tamu Tamu, Africa, Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Though you can also get boozy DOLE Whip in other locations throughout WDW).

Upon arrival at Animal Kingdom, Rickey’s mom loves to book it directly to Tamu Tamu for Boozy DOLE Whip. She has enjoyed the King’s Cooler, which is DOLE Whip Pineapple with strawberry and Parrot Bay. But her very favorite is just the basic pineapple with the rum float.

Oh, and bonus points if you get a Colossal Mickey Cinnamon Roll for dipping in your DOLE Whip… i.e. Stick with Rickey’s mom if you want the best advice for starting your day out right.

#4: Enchanted Rose Classic Old Fashioned

Location: The Enchanted Rose, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Rickey’s mom is very discerning about her Old Fashioneds and this one gets top marks from her. They make their house Old Fashioned with Woodford Reserve, Orange, Sugar and Angostura Bitters. It’s a bit fruit forward and juicy for Rickey’s taste, but also well balanced and delicious.

In this photo you can see that they’ve given her small ice. However, you can ask for a big ice cube here and they’ll usually be able to do it.

#3: Goldschmidt Vineyards Toniray, Sonoma

Location: Oga’s Cantina, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Rickey’s mom has very little patience for the onslaught of sugary drinks at Disney World. Often she just wants a decent glass of wine to offset sugar shock.

The nice thing about the “white” wine at Oga’s Cantina is that it’s actually festive and blue. That way you don’t feel left out of the immersive experience if you opt for wine instead of a cocktail.

#2: Le Geant Slush

Location: Les Vin de Chefs de France, France Pavilion, World Showcase, EPCOT

Neither Rickey nor his mom wants to party with anyone who turns their nose up at this drink. Le Geant Slush is essentially the Orange or the Citron Slush, super charged with extra Gran Marnier or Vodka.

The pro tip here is to get the extra vodka and stir carefully to mix it all together. It tastes like a boozy creamsicle. Just get it.

#1: Corn Old Fashioned

Location: La Cava del Tequila, Mexico Pavilion, World Showcase, EPCOT

You have to watch Rickey’s mom around these delicious and potent concoctions. No one really knows what kind of turn the day will take after she get’s a few of these in her system (but you know it will be entertaining).

The Corn Old Fashioned is an excellent riff on the classic and will suit anyone who likes a dry, boozy, rye (and tequila) forward drink. It also comes from La Cava del Tequila, which is a family favorite bar in the House of Rickey Mouse.

Honorable Mention: Champagne from Les Vin de France

Location: Le Vin de France, France Pavilion, World Showcase, EPCOT

Le Vin de France is a small wine shop located in the back of the France Pavilion, near Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie. Here you can get a number of oddly well priced (for Disney) champagnes with very little wait time. Rickey’s mom always makes a beeline for this spot directly after arriving at EPCOT. It’s one of the quickest ways in France to get something boozy and delicious in your mitts before you spend the rest of your day standing in endless lines.

Oh and full disclosure, this picture actually features Prosecco from Italy, but the glasses and the sparkling wine look the same. Rickey would seriously challenge any one of you to get a photo of his mom’s champagne before she downs it…
